Accessibility
Oakdene House Foundation is committed to making our website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities.
Our commitment
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards across our website. We are continuously working to improve accessibility and welcome feedback from people who use assistive technologies.
What we've done
Our website includes:
- Semantic HTML throughout for better screen reader compatibility
- Descriptive alt text on images
- Keyboard navigation support
- Sufficient colour contrast (WCAG AA)
- Resizable text without loss of functionality
- Skip-to-content links on every page
- Clear, plain-language content
- Logical heading structure
- Labels and instructions on all form fields
Known limitations
We're honest about where we haven't got there yet:
- Some older PDF resources may not be fully accessible. If you need an accessible version of any document, please contact us and we'll provide one.
- Third-party embedded forms (Jotform) and payment tools (Stripe) follow their own accessibility standards, which may differ slightly from ours.
- Video content, if added in future, will include captions — please let us know if you find any without.
Accessibility at our centre
Our centre at 29 Vine Street, Fairfield has:
- Step-free access to the main entrance
- Accessible parking via the Fairfield RSL car park on the corner of Vine and Bertha Streets
- Staff trained to support people with a range of accessibility needs
- Interpreter services available on request — please let us know when you contact us
If you have specific accessibility requirements for a visit or appointment, please contact us ahead of time so we can make sure everything is in place.
